The owner & his family are very pleasant and accommodating. They have everything needed for a great time. Many free use items(fish poles, kayaks, BBQ pit, lawn chairs...), all included with room. Very relaxing. Clean room & family atmosphere. Will be staying here again this fall. tom
We stayed here for one night on a Friday. The place was spotless, had good WiFi, and the bed was comfortable. Our room had a nice flat-screen TV, microwave, coffee maker and small refrigerator. The owners were super nice. The grounds are neat and tidy. And their rates are really affordable considering they're on the Tawas River AND across the street from Tawas Bay! We'll definitely stay here again!
What a delightfully charming little place. Usually my husband and I camp because we find most accommodations to be lacking, but our RV is in for repair and we found ourselves at the Surfside in Tawas. This wonderful little place is nicely situated close to town with direct access to the bay and a beautiful grassy area in the back to relax by the river. The room was well appointed with everything needed to be comfortable and then some. Most importantly to us, everything is sparkling, and I mean brilliantly clean!! This is so important when you stay away from home and you are counting on clean sheets and a tidy space to relax. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. It felt comfortable from the first phone call. We highly recommend this as a clean, comfortable place to stay when you visit Tawas. My only disappointment is that this place will not stay our secret and we may find it harder to stay here in the future.
This is the place we stay at sometimes when we go to East Tawas/Tawas. Under 150$ a night. No pets. Located directly on Lake Huron and the Tawas River. Three paddle boats and a bunch of kayaks come free with use. Access to grill and firepit on the river. This place would be great for an intimate wedding. Super clean. Even the corners of the room where the cleaning ladies never get at your bigger places. The owners are cool. Tim and Amy are their names.
Enjoyed our stay. Rooms were nice and had mini frig and microwave, which is always a plus. Friendly staff and even right on 23, it was a quiet night. Definitely will come back.
First time staying at Surfside resort and it was great! Tim (owner) greeted us on the check-in. Was friendly and helpful. The owners keep the grounds in beautiful shape. Fishing off the dock in the Tawas river did not disapoint. Multiple large mouth and smallies as well as numerous panfish. Easy location to Tawas beaches and restaurants. We will be a repeat customer!
We look forward to staying at Surfside each year on our way up north! What an adorable, super clean, cozy, comfortable place. Beautiful manicured lawn with gorgeous flowers will tell you they take pride in their business. The open lake view across the street is magnificent with the morning sunrise. Just beautiful. Cleanest place I've seen in a long time! Since we are usually just passing through we have not taken advantage of the free kayaks to paddle down the river right behind this place nor have we enjoyed the use of its back yard with fire pit. See you next year!
